Demand Response

The arrival of summer not only brings an increase in temperature, but also a significant demand for energy.

During summer months demand far exceeds supply and puts an undue burden on the utility/power plants to produce enough power. In an effort to prevent shortages to surrounding communities, all large energy users such as Staples are asked to do their share by voluntarily reducing their energy use during times of heat waves and high temperatures. These shortages can lead to total blackouts and loss of power, that if occur will significantly impact business.

Staples is committed to environmental sustainability and participates in “Demand Response” which is designed to help the utility companies and businesses reduce demand. Attached is more information about this program that includes the most frequently asked questions.

Demand Response

We appreciate your understanding during times of energy reduction. Please contact Facilities Management with any questions or concerns.

Summer Reminders

  • Be sure that all loose objects such as shopping carts are regularly secured, especially ahead of forecasted severe weather.
  • After inclement weather strikes (when safe to do so) perform a visual inspection on the exterior to check for loose building materials. Report all safety issues immediately to Facilities Management at 866-888-4321.
  • In cases of extreme weather, pay close attention to Tornado warning calls to your store by Facilities/National Weather Service and take the necessary action to prepare.
  • All roof leaks and other water penetrations should be immediately reported to Facilities Management by e-ticket or 866-888-4321.

Please keep these reminders in mind so that your store building is as safe as possible for customers and associates!
